As a 501c3 non-profit, Be a Climate Hero (formerly Bloomcradle) activates individuals and communities to adopt low to zero-carbon technologies through filmed relatable educational, human-centered testimonials, how-to, and climate leader interview videos. The videos are strategically rooted in proven best practices of engagement for effective climate behavior change. We previously interviewed and produced over thirty diverse climate leader videos who work within Indigenous Rights, Water Conservation and Policy, Wind, Community solar, Battery Storage, Urban Climate Resilience, Urban Planning, Climate Policy facilitation, and Environmental Justice fields.
Be a Climate Hero was founded on the principle that people’s knowledge of how to be part of climate solutions is crucial to addressing the climate emergency by answering the question “What climate solutions can I be a part of and how?” and inspire immediate action . Our mission is to engage, connect, and mobilize the public and leaders through accessible and educational storytelling to drive local community and large-scale action for a sustainable future. Our Neighbor-to-Neighbor Educational testimonial videos feature residents sharing why they adopted the clean technology, their experience, and the benefits. How-to videos provide a step-by-step guide of how to take the action including links to resources for incentives and financial assistance programs.
The project will support heat and transport electrification, and widespread renewable energy adoption by producing, filming, and distributing educational and accessible public engagement videos. The organization will produce electric vehicle testimonial videos, a Heat Pump installation Testimonial, Cleantech job and industry testimonials, and Community Climate Leader videos and accompanying How-to videos for all topics as told by residents. We are also building a community engagement platform connecting clean tech adopters with those considering.
