SpaCIE launched the Summer School “A Multidisciplinary Approach to Climate Change” (CCSS) in 2021. The CCSS is a unique opportunity to broaden students’ knowledge by attending classes with world-class university professors. The Program intends to be a short journey that can change students’ life by providing them with new perspectives on humanity’s most pressing problem, on their studies and/or their careers. They will share this experience while making new friends from all over the world, which contributes to making the program a life-changing experience and to enriching the classroom with worldwide perspectives. The result is that students discover not only new things about climate change and the world, but also new things about themselves.
The CCSS in an exclusive 2-week study program (workload equivalent to 3 ECTS credits) that offers a high-quality multidisciplinary course, taught in English by leading professors from numerous disciplines (Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Geography, Humanities, Law, Physics, Political Science, and Sociology) and by top professionals in the business world and the public sector. The CCSS is a truly international program that brings together students from all over the world, as well as some local students. The course is complemented by academic visits and cultural and social events, all of them designed around the problem of climate change.
The first two editions of the CCSS were organized in collaboration with Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. The third and next edition is organized alone by SpaCIE, and it will take place at University City of Madrid. It is likely that for the fourth edition in 2024, we will seek again the collaboration of another institution or university.
